Stockholm and Sweden's finest hardrock band are Crucified Barbara. Mia, Ida, Nicki and Klara play rock 'n' roll tinged metal with lashings of thrash, pop, punk (and the odd touch of whatever dares to cross their path!) Now, in 2012 the band is about to release their third album, "The Midnight Chase". Ida (bass) and Klara (guitar) who were both teenagers at the time, had already played together for a couple of years in other line ups when they formed Crucified Barbara in 1998 with singer Joey Nine. They had a plan and some songs but were lacking a drummer. Fortunately destiny was on their side, and hooked them up with Nicki (drums). "We'd seen Nicki around town for a while, looking like a real rockstar. We noticed she was carrying drumsticks and took a chance and asked her if she wanted to be in our band and luckily she said yes", Ida says. Crucified Barbara recorded demos and played clubs around Stockholm. In 2000 they recruited some new blood, realizing a second guitar player would take their sound to the next level. Mia, whose great guitar skills were widely known in Stockholm, joined the band as a lead guitarist. It turned out she wasn't only a great guitar player but also a great singer and in 2003 Joey (vocals) left the band and Mia took over the microphone. Crucified Barbara had discovered their sound and were ready to record their debut album. The album "In distortion We Trust" was released in Europe in 2005 and was received with excellent reviews. The first single "Losing the Game" reached the top 10 of the swedish charts and had success abroad. After the release there followed a long period of intense touring, taking the band all over Europe (and even all the way to Australia), playing major festivals and clubs both on their own as well as supporting other cool rock acts such as Doro, Backyard Babies, In Flames, Sepultura and Motörhead. The rest of the world became interested in the band and "In Distortion We Trust" was released in both North and South America as well as in Japan. Crucified Barbara's hard work on the road gained them a well deserved reputation for being a great live band. In 2008 they finally took a break from touring to record new songs and in 2009 their sophomore album "'Til Death do us Party" was released. The album got extraordinary reviews and the sales surpassed those of their debut. A new album of course meant the band packed their gear, boarded the bus and hit the road again. They played numerous club and festival shows during the spring and summer of 2009, and in the winter Crucified Barbara went on a six week long headlining tour throughout Europe. The tour was documented and released as a DVD "'TIl Death do us Party Tour 2009" in late 2011. In 2010 the girls in Crucified Barbara were in an especially glamorous mood and decided to accept the offer of entering the Swedish heats of the Eurovision Song Contest. They performed the hard rock ballad "Heaven or Hell" in front of millions of television viewers and made it to the semi-finals in the competition. The song was released as a single and had success whilst entering the charts in Sweden. Crucified Barbara have just finished the recording of their third album which will be released on May 9 2012. 'The Midnight Chase' was recorded in the legendary Music-A-Matic studio in Gothenburg with sound engineer Henryk Lipp and producer Chips Kiesby. "I've never felt this good about anything we've made before", Mia comments on the upcoming album. "I'm so damn proud of the new songs and the sound is better than ever, we can't wait to go on tour and perform them live!"
