Intense, uncompromising, driven, spirited, relentless, honest, unique, bulletproof. Those are some of the words that have been used to describe New York hard music veterans PRO-PAIN.
Since their crushing 1992 NAIRD nominated debut album "Foul Taste Of Freedom", PRO-PAIN have become a staple in the diets of heavy music listeners around the globe and have earned themselves a reputation as being one of the hardest working units in the business. "We come from the school of hard knocks, and have had to work real hard to earn our keep" adds frontman / founder Gary Meskil.
To date, PRO-PAIN have recorded and released 8 studio albums, played over 2000 gigs (spanning the course of over a decade), and have reached a level of accomplishment that far surpasses most in their genre. With album sales of over 600,000 worldwide, PRO-PAIN are considered by many to be one of extreme music's "main components".
PRO-PAIN's latest studio album ‘Run For Cover" is a diverse collection of cover songs from artists who have influenced the band throughout the course of their career.
Forgoing the predictable, PRO-PAIN have lined up an impressive and wide array of songs from artists ranging from metal stalwarts such as Slayer, Motorhead and Celtic Frost to punk/hardcore trailblazers Discharge, Negative Approach, Operation Ivy, Black Flag and Agnostic Front. Surprises include a "cover" from Meskil’s former band Crumbsuckers and a spirited version of Life Of Agony’s "Weeds." There is even an impressive rendition of Die Bohse Onkelz smash hit "Terpentin" (which is sung in German). Undoubtedly one of the most hard-hitting and eclectic cover collections in recent memory, ‘Run For Cover’ succeeds in capturing the classic atmosphere of the original recordings while "amping" the energy up to maximum levels in proper PRO-PAIN fashion.
